纽约州也有一个城镇名叫里加。
里加（56|58|N|24|8|E|里加又是波罗的海国家主要的政治、经济、文化、教育、和工商业中心。根据[[2003年人口统计,里加市人口为739,232人，其中拉脱维亚人占 45%，俄罗斯人占45%。（拉脱维亚全国居民中，拉脱维亚人占60%多一点，29%是俄罗斯人，3.9%是白俄罗斯人， 2.6%是乌克兰人，2.5%是波兰人，1.4%是立陶宛人）大部分拉脱维亚人是更正教路德会信徒，而大部分俄罗斯人属于东正教。
里加古城建于公元1201年，至今已有八百余年历史，里加历史中心名列联合国教科文组织世界遗产。该市特别以extensive Art Nouveau (Jugendstil) 建筑著称，与其类似的只有维也纳、布拉格和巴塞罗那。
