維也納（德文：），是奧地利的首都。位於多瑙河之上，被下奧地利省所包圍。維也納是奧地利最大的城市和政治中心，人口約有160萬人。聯合國工業發展組織（United Nations Industrial Development Organization）、石油輸出國組織（Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries）和國際原子能機構（International Atomic Energy Agency）的總部以及许多其他國際機構均設於維也納。在2006年的世界最佳居住城市評選中奧地利高据全球第四位。

歷史

維也納最早是由凱爾特人在公元前500年建立的。公元15年，該城成為一個羅馬帝國的前線城市Vindobona，用來防衛北邊的日耳曼部落。中古時代，維也納相繼成為巴本堡王朝（Babenberg）、哈布斯堡王朝（Habsburg）的根據地，再後來變成神聖羅馬帝國和奧匈帝國的首都。16和17世紀鄂圖曼帝國每次入侵歐洲都在維也納被阻擋。1815年，維也納也是拿破崙戰爭後，維也納會議的舉行場所。

隨著19世紀奧匈帝國的強盛，維也納亦成為當時歐洲一個重要的都會。1873年維也納舉辦了為期106天的世界博覽會。

在第二次世界大戰時，奧地利再度和納粹德國合併。在戰後，奧地利和維也納，跟德國和柏林一樣，遭到英﹑美﹑法﹑蘇四國劃分四個控制區管理，直至1955年奧地利再度獲得獨立為止。

冷戰時期，維也納是國際間諜活動的溫床，因為其為於東西方集團之間的中立國奧地利。

歷史人口

20世紀初期，維也納曾經是；維也納的人口在奧匈帝國時期（1867年—1918年）快速增長，當時的維也納聚集了很多從這個帝國其他部份的移民。第一次世界大戰後，許多捷克人返回他們的祖國，這導致這個城市的人口減少。在接下來的移民時期，大約三分之一的人口擁有斯拉夫和匈牙利姓氏。
